With His Presidential Bid Threatened By The 14th Amendment, Trump Proposes Amendment 14 1/2
New ploy would uphold ban on insurrectionists seeking office, but exempt Trump “due to my incredible past service”
“I have a constitutional right to run for president again based on the 14 1/2 amendment, which I’ve just proposed,” said Donald Trump on Saturday.
The ultra-indicted ex-president’s latest scheme comes after numerous legal scholars argue that Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution’s 14th Amendment disqualifies any person from assuming public office if that person “engaged in an insurrection or rebellion against the United States.” Trump’s actions on January 6, 2021 meet all the criteria.
Still, the former president remains undetered. “Joe Biden is shaking in his adult diaper right now over my introduction of the 14 1/2 amendment, which is super legal according to my lawyers,” Trump said. “It basically exempts me from any bad laws due to my incredible past service as the greatest president ever to rule America.”
