What I Learned About Donald Trump From Visiting Winston Churchill’s Ancestral Home

The statesman who led Britain through WWII was everything President Trump isn’t — articulate, admired, capable, and wise

Blenheim Palace, the birthplace of Prime Minister Winston Churchill, the brilliant statesman who guided Great Britain through World War II with a steady hand and his ever-present Cuban cigar, is as impressive as the man himself.

While there last week, I came across a book titled, Churchill In Quotes, which framed in perfect terms the difference between a great leader and our pitiful faux-POTUS.

Here is Churchill’s inspiring wit and wisdom juxtaposed with Donald Trump’s mind-boggling stupidities:

Winston Churchill: “If you have knowledge, let others light their candles with it.”
Donald J. Trump: “I went to the best schools. No one is smarter than me.”

WC: “Nothing in life is so exhilarating as to be shot at without result.” (After nearly being shot while serving in India in 1898)
DJT: “Unfortunately, I didn’t serve. I have bone spurs.”

WC: “Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm.”
DJT: “I like winners. Not fuck-ups and failures. Get me winners!”

WC: “This is no time for ease or comfort. It is time to dare and endure.”
DJT: “Pence, Kelly, Kushner, take care all these damn problems. I’m going to go play some golf.”

WC: “Healthy citizens are the greatest asset any country can have.” (Addressing a crowd as a liberal in Manchester, England in 1908)
DJT: “Obamacare is effectively dead. It’s over.”

WC: “What is the use of living, if it be not to strive for noble causes and to make this muddled world a better place for those who live in it after we are gone?”
DJT: “If Rocket Man doesn’t stop these threats, I’m going to have to absolutely destroy North Korea using whatever means possible, including nukes.”

WC: “Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.”
DJT: “I’ll do all the talking, you shut up and listen.”

WC: “Everyone threw the blame on me…I suppose it is because they think I shall be able to bear it best.”
DJT: “Don’t blame me, it’s Obama’s fault. And if it isn’t his fault, it’s the Democrats’ fault.”

WC: “I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat.” (Upon becoming prime minister as Germany was overtaking Europe, May 1940)
DJT: “Warm up the plane, I want to relax in Mar-a-Lago this weekend.”

WC: “When I am abroad, I always make it a rule never to attack or criticize the government of my country.”
DJT: “America’s going to shit. And only I can save it.”

WC: “…It has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.”
DJT: “Why can’t we have a government like Russia’s? It works great.”

WC: “The truth is incontrovertible. Panic may resent it, ignorance may deride it, malice may distort it, but there it is.”
DJT: “The lying fake news is ruining America. Trust me, whatever they say about me, it’s all lies.”
