No need to be sorry, Don, even though this was ACTUALLY A DRAWING MADE BY A CHILD and not doctored or photoshopped in any way.
I think the offense here, then, isn’t that I added something “dirty” to the illustration in my post, namely a Dandelion-colored penis between the president’s legs, it’s that the president’s acts of lewdness should have DISQUALIFIED HIM AS A LEGITIMATE CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT IN THE FIRST PLACE!
Please excuse me for yelling, Don, but it always makes me just a little nutty when readers fail to see that it is not the messenger who offends, but the perpetrator of the original outrageous and inappropriate offense. Hence, why the satire works at all.
Or, as I often like to share, why this quote is so meaningful:
Satire is, by definition, offensive. It is meant to make us feel uncomfortable. It is meant to make us scratch our heads, think, do a double-take, and then think again. — Maajid Nawaz
So, Don, in conclusion, I thank you very much for reading and thoughtfully commenting on my post, and now, with the powers vested in me by the editors at Medium, I’m going to have to take your crayons away.
I hope you’ll understand.
